REIMONENQ - A RHUMERIE OF 1914

The Reimonenq distillery in Sainte-Rose, to the north of Basse-Terre, was built by brothers Fernand and Joseph Reimonenq in 1914, with the help of André Bon. After Joseph passed away in the late 1950s, his son Leopold took over the distillery. Despite the major difficulties they faced (including a fire and cyclones), the distillery won a gold medal at the Paris Agricultural Show in 1985. Thanks to their tireless work, this medal was followed by several more in the following years.
