Por Larrañaga was created in 1834 by a Spaniard, Ignacio Larrañaga. The manufacture was first established at 94 rue O’Reilly. As he needed more space, M. Larrañaga moved his workshops to 58 de la rue San Miguel in 1840. After a few difficult years, the brand was bought out by Antonio Rivero Martinez. Mr. Martinez was the first to make machine-made cigars in Cuba. The vitolas were of an exceptional quality. The brand was soon nicknamed the University of Havana. Today, Por Larrañaga cigars are made in the "La Corona" manufacture. These vitolas are famous for their mild flavors.
