This Porto Quinta do Bom Retiro is produced from a selection of several harvests from Quinta do Bom Retiro, one of the oldest vineyards in the Douro region. Blending wines from different harvests is a difficult task, requiring expertise and careful blending to achieve perfect harmony. The wine is aged in barrels for 20 years, giving it a tawny color with a yellow halo corresponding to its advanced state of maturation.
On the nose, the wine releases aromas of fruits such as grapefruit, apricot, almonds, and hazelnuts, as well as notes of vanilla, old Porto, and phenol. In the mouth, it is both sweet and dry, with a rich and generous persistence. The palate attack is fine and delicious, with a full range of ripe and dry fruits, in a fresh and liqueur-like harmony.
Porto is delicious as an aperitif or after dinner, and can be paired with chocolates, lightly sweetened or cream-based desserts, cheeses, dried fruits, nut cakes, and rolls. Porto also pairs perfectly with a good cigar!
