Cuban cigars H.Upmann, the innovation in the Havana World

Hermann Upmann and his brother, August, bankers and avid cigar smokers decided in 1840 to invest in a cigar factory which later became their manufacture and bank. After both creators went bankrupt, the brand was bought out in 1922 by an English company, J. Frankau & Co. They took over the manufacture and continued production until 1935 when the brand was sold to Mendez y Garcia Company, who continues production to this date. H.Upmann was a very innovative brand in the Havana world, revolutionizing the transportation and distribution of the Puros. Indeed, the brand was the first one to use cedar boxes to develop and transport cigars. This method has proven its worth as it facilitates the conservation and humidity. It is a deeply entrenched brand amongst smokers who love strong tobacco. Its wrapper is more balanced than that of other brands, and stresses its flavor and fragrance, mild yet sharp. Their dimensions, among the biggest, belong to the most coveted and sought after cigars in the world.
