Cuban cigars Romeo y Julieta, seduction and famous brand

Inocencio Alvarez and Manin García, from Asturias, created the brand Romeo y Julieta in 1873. Voluptuous, seduction, tragedy the choice of this name is related to the romantic thought of the time. The brand was purchased by Don Pepin Rodriguez in 1903. It was associated with commercial success. Don Pepin Rodriguez, considered at the time the best Habanos seller in the world, even thought of buying the Capulets' palace, in Verona, to turn it into a cigar shop. His spouse talked him out of it, and he entrusted her with spreading the name throughout. His nephew Hipolito further developed the brand by modernizing it. Romeo y Julieta is also credited for the simplicity of its band and the biggest shapes.
