Founded in 1891 by Francisco Fonseca, the brand was manufactured in a small manufacture located rue Dragones in Havana. It was sung by poet Federico García Lorca: "I will go to Santiago with the blond head of Fonseca". Francisco Fonseca had the idea to wrap the cigar in a thin sheet of Japan paper and in an individual tube.... He also had he idea to create a sampling room in his manufacture to test the blends chosen by his customers. Fonseca hasd also specialized in the manufacturing of cigars for banquets, gatherings, clubs, etc.
